Mexican Art
Mexican art is a conversation that spans centuries: from the Sun Stone to Frida Kahlo's self-portraits, from the dancers who open every fiesta to the skulls of the Day of the Dead. D'Argenta has carried it forward since 1976 with sculptures finished by hand in Mexico in silver, 24-karat gold and copper.
This page brings together the Mexican artists behind our collections: Frida Kahlo, whose work inspires an entire collection, and the contemporary Mexican sculptors with whom we create every piece. Meet each of them and choose the sculpture you will take home, to your office or to someone special.

Frida Kahlo, the face of Mexican art
Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) made her own life her work: the Blue House in Coyoacán, the Tehuana dresses, the flowers in her hair, the monkeys and hummingbirds of her self-portraits. Through her, Mexico became a language understood all over the world.
Our Frida Kahlo collection brings those symbols into sculpture: pieces in silver and gold with the intensity of her palette, for anyone who wants to keep close an artist who never stopped being herself.
Contemporary Mexican sculptors
Every D'Argenta collection begins in a sculptor's hands. Eduardo Buenrostro, Ricardo del Río, Federico Cardona, Javier Arenas, Martín Mendoza, Claudio Rodríguez, Jorge Bortolussi, Sylvia Pawa, Enrique Jolly, Lisa Castillo, Jordi Veytia, Ignacio Garibay, Raquel Steiner, Jocelyn, Ricardo Casas, Riley Roca, Tere Memun and Pop Dots, the duo of Melisa Aldrete and Luis Carden, create very different work: the human figure, animals, abstraction, colour.
Each original comes to our workshop, where Mexican artisans finish it by hand in silver, gold or copper. Every piece joins its author's vision to a craft D'Argenta has refined for half a century.
Roots: Aztec, Maya and pre-Hispanic art
Long before the Spanish arrived, the peoples of Mesoamerica were carving stone and working gold with a mastery that museums around the world admire today. The Sun Stone, kept at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, remains one of Mexico's great symbols.
Our Aztec, Maya and pre-Hispanic collections reinterpret those forms (warriors, deities, calendars and masks) in silver and gold, so that Mexico's history has a place in your living room.
Living traditions
Mexican art also lives in the street and in the fiesta: in the dancers, in the skulls and altars of the Day of the Dead, and in the eagle that, as the legend tells, landed on a prickly pear cactus to mark the place where Tenochtitlan would be founded.
A Mexican sculpture is a meaningful gift for someone who lives far from Mexico, for an anniversary or for a valued client, and a way to decorate with identity: a work made to pass from one generation to the next.
